THE LORD HAS DONE GREAT THINGS FOR THEM

‘The Lord has done great things for them,’
In David’s City Bethlehem;
The promised prophet, Zion’s seed,
Restored our life as God decreed.
The scepter of the nations God’s destroyed
And filled our tongues with shouts of joy!
The Lord has done great things for me,
Restored my faith and made me see!
‘The Lord has done great things for them,’
Through Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem;
Our great high priest of Jacob’s seed,
Restored his heirs as God decreed.
The Prince of Peace, the holy seed,
Restored our hope by grace indeed.
The gladsome virgin bears God’s Son!
‘The Lord, for me, great deeds has done!’
‘The Lord has done great things for them,’
Through Christ’s low birth in Bethlehem;
The King of kings, the promised seed,
Restored his realm as God decreed.
You’ve brought us home with shouts of joy,
The serpent crushed, his sway destroyed;
The Lord has done great things for me!
Restored his love eternally!
