Our eyes are fixed on you

“We know not what to do, but our eyes are on you.” II Chronicles 20:12

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.” Psalm 46:1-3

The earth may shake, the mountains quake—

We know not what to do,

But God’s unmoved, his covenant proved;

Our eyes are fixed on you.

Though billows roar and breakers soar—

We know not what to do;

Our hope’s the same, his truth remains;

We wait in faith on you.

When harvests fail and foes assail—

We know not what to do,

But God’s unmoved, his covenant proved;

We cling in hope to you.

Our families fail, a friend’s betrayal—

We know not what to do,

But Father knows; his mercy flows;

Content, we wait on you.

The barren womb, th’awaiting tomb—

We know not what to do,

Yet Christ’s the same, his grace remains;

We rest in peace on you.

When comfort fails, disease prevails—

We know not what to do;

God’s gracious will is sovereign still;

Our fears we bring to you.

Our failing breath, our looming death—

We now know what to do.

Through heaven’s gates God’s glory waits,

Our eyes are fixed on you.
